How to Set Up a Home Theater System

Watching movies has been revolutionized with the help of home theater systems. Gone are the days when people had to line up and sit among strangers or watch a rented movie on a bad entertainment system. Now people can experience the cinema right in the comforts of their own home.

While home theater systems are becoming more affordable and accessible, many people still haven't installed their own theater system. A lot of people think that it is a very complicated matter. But it is actually very easy to learn how to set up a home theater system. Here are the simple steps:

1. Make a plan on how you want to set up the home theater. Before you move furniture or unpack your equipment, you have to know where you will be putting your home theater, or else, you'll waste a lot of energy and time.

2. Check out where you plan to plug the main components of the home theater. Ideally, the home theater should have its own circuit breaker to avoid any problems with overloading. If you have limited plugs, you can reinforce them with power strips.

3. The television should be placed in a straight line with people’s view. For best viewing, the center of the screen needs to be aligned to the people’s eyes.

4. Mount your speakers before you attach wires. Try to place the speakers where people will get sound directly from them. If there are people hard of hearing, try to ensure that at least one speaker points directly to their spot.

5. The center speaker should be placed on top or under the TV. The speaker’s front edge should be aligned to the television’s front.

6. Mount the right and left channel speakers with the same distance from their respective sides of the television. They should be placed as high as the center speaker.

7. Mount the surround speakers with the same distances to the right and left of the audience. However, the speakers shouldn't be pointing directly toward the viewing line of sight. It can be tilted upwards for best results.

8. The subwoofer needs to be placed to the side of the home theater. To increase the bass effect, it can be positioned near your wall. To decrease the bass, it can be moved away from your wall.

9. Attach the appropriate cables to hook up the entire home theater system. Have the manual at hand to ensure that things are being plugged correctly.

With a few steps, you can easily learn how to set up your home theater system.
